How God Transforms Through Prayer

It is our great honor support a doctor of ministry project at our Healing Rooms.

Meet Elder Laurie

Laurie is a member of our prayer team and as such she has seen the transformation in the Beloved for whom we pray. Therefore, it was logical that she chose our site a the location for her research.

In addition to being an Ambassador on our ecumenical prayer team, Laurie is an Elder/Oversee at her church, The Empowerment Center, in Kalamazoo, MI. Her duties are include administration, teaching, mentoring, and prayer. Elder Laurie is also an intercessor at the Kalamazoo House of Prayer (KHOP).

Elder Laurie is completing her doctoral work at United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. She is a member of the Randy Clark Scholars focus group. The title of here ministry project is The Efficacy of Healing Rooms as a Tool for Renewal in the Participant’s Heart, Mind, and Moral Agency.

Healing Rooms as a Tool of Personal Renewal

The lack of personal renewal is thought to be a problem of appropriate discipleship in the church.

It is anticipated that Beloved who participate in prayer and training at the Kzoo Prayer Center will be transformed in the Name of Jesus and the Power of the Holy Spirit.

Jeremiah 31:31-34

31 “Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah— 32 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, [a]though I was a husband to them, says the Lord. 33 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their [b]hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 34 No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.”

After a semester studying this scripture, Williams distilled three measurable principles which God is highlighting for transformation ~ the heart, the mind, and moral agency.

How Transformation Is Measured

There will be surveys, questionnaires, interviews, and observations of our Monday prayer minister, Healing Prayer Training, and Releasing Freedom Training.

In our prayer setting, a team of 2-3 Ambassadors listens to God about the Beloved’s prayer request. When meeting with the Beloved, they pray what they have heard. We see miracles and transformation on a weekly basis.

To collect data about the renewal process, the Beloved will fill out a brief survey before being prayed over and one after. In addition, on of the Ambassadors will complete an observation for of the changes notices in Beloved during the prayer session.

Laurie believes that our Healing Prayer Training and Release Freedom Training are just as transformative as individual prayer session. A similar experimental model will be applied with surveys before and after the training as well as the opportunity for an interview with the researcher.

Elder Williams invites you to participate in her research and states, “The study is to magnify and glorify the Lord and bring honor to His name, so the study is being conducted in spirit of faith and belief in God’s power and benevolence.”
